Gravedona

Adagiato in uno splendido golfo, protetto a nord da monti pittoreschi, è distribuito in maniera armoniosa, fatto di piazzette e di caratteristici vicoli nel cuore del paese. Ricchissimo di chiese e di monumenti, testimonianza di un passato ricco di storia e dell'importanza amministrativo-religiosa, Gravedona è certamente una delle perle del lago di Como.  

Il nome deriva da Grava: termine utilizzato per indicare una costa o lingua di terra sassosa.

Gravedona oggi non si presenta più nell’aspetto di un tempo, quando le è stato imposto il nome, ma nei colori pastello delle sue case che ampiamente campiscono quella lingua di terra sassosa che suggerisce tranquillità e riposo sin quando, lambendo l’acqua della riva, entrando nel blu del lago e mescolandosi con esso, regala una cromaticità misteriosa seria e riflessiva che invita alla meditazione.

Nestled in a beautiful gulf, protected at north by picturesque mountains, it is distributed in a harmonious way, made of squares and characteristic alleys in the heart of the town. Rich in churches and monuments, evidence of a past rich in history and administrative-religious importance, Gravedona is certainly one of the pearls of Lake Como. 

The name derives from Grava: a term used to indicate a coast or stony ground.

Gravedona today no longer appears in the aspect of a time, when the name was imposed, but in the pastel colors of its houses that extant that stony tongue of land that suggests tranquility and rest since when, lapping the water of the shore , entering the blue of the lake and mingling with it, gives a serious and reflective mysterious chromaticity that invites meditation.
