Acquafraggia waterfalls

The Acquafraggia waterfalls situated in Piuro, a few kilometers outside the city of Chiavenna, originate from the stream that gives them their name, which born at more than 3000 meters above sea level. Upstream this rievr generates a lake, and going downstream it makes real jumps, originating the suggestive waterfalls that we can now admire. Its name derives from this phenomenon, from the Latin term “acqua fracta”, that means water broken by the falls.

From this place several hiking trails starts, which allow you to admire not only the suggestive waterfalls of this waterway up close together with the surrounding unspoiled nature, but lead to panoramic spots where you have an excellent view over the entire Valchiavenna valley.
